Pointers from Proverbs

Don't Forget God's Word

Proverbs 3:1-2 (1) "My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: (2) For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee."

It is important that we do not forget the commandments of God.  The flesh has a very short memory span when it comes to spiritual things.  We need to guard them in our heart and cultivate them so they grow in our heart and mind.  When they are firmly rooted in our life they will bring many blessed benefits to our life.  How often and quickly the children of Israel forgot all the wonderful things God did for them when they left Egypt. We must not follow that poor example in our own life today, unfortunately it is easy to do and that is why we must guard against it.

Solomon reminds young people what the application of God's Word will do for them in their life. We must always remember that obedience is always blessed by God.  It will help us get more done in a day and surely we all need that.  When you are trying to live for God, raise a family and serve in your local church there is never a lack of things to do and we need all the help we can in getting things done.  We can also have a longer and more peaceful life when we walk with God.  That does not always mean we will live a life long in years, but it will never be cut short because of sin and we will be here as long as God wants us to be.  Thankfully we can live a peaceful life in a troubled world when we walk with God.  These are all great blessings and will enrich every life.  The heart must not forget God's Word but embrace it and make it the foundation of their life.

Cultivate God's Word in your heart and mind today and it will yield great fruit.

Food for Thought

Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."

God focuses on the earth here in this verse.  Those who promote the gap theory have no basis to do so from this verse and they are not properly interpreting the text.  The gap theory is not scientifically possible and it is theologically destructive.  It seeks to compromise with evolution and try to make it fit into scripture.  Think of the earth as an empty block and then the great sculptor who is God himself then began to work on his great masterpiece.  God is the grand creator and he is the only one that can make something out of nothing.  Whenever Christians compromise with the world to be accepted or trying to make God's truth more "palatable" to the world they make a great mistake.  The world will take the inconsistency of the position and use it to further promote their lie and turn people away from the truth.  Evolution gained acceptance in our public education system and has been successful in getting any bible reading, prayer or teaching removed from the classroom.  Anything that seeks to compromise with evolution is wrong and must be exposed for the lie that it is.
